UAE Reduces July Fuel Costs Amid Stable Oil Markets, Eased Gulf Tensions

Date:

In a move that offers a reprieve to motorists, the United Arab Emirates has announced a notable reduction in fuel prices for July. This development comes after a period of rising costs, which had been driven by earlier disruptions in the global oil markets. The reduction applies across all fuel types including Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus, and diesel, marking the first decline since February. This change reflects a decrease in global crude oil prices as supply conditions have improved in the region.

As part of the new pricing, Super 98 petrol is now available at Dh3.40 per litre, down from the previous Dh3.95. Special 95 and E-Plus have also seen reductions exceeding 50 fils per litre. Diesel experienced the most significant drop, with prices decreasing by 73 fils to Dh3.60 per litre. These adjustments by the Fuel Price Committee are expected to ease the financial burden on daily commuters and families.

This price cut follows a period in June when global oil prices began to ease. The initial fears of prolonged disruptions to shipping routes through the vital Strait of Hormuz subsided, aided by diplomatic efforts that brought stability to the situation. Consequently, Brent crude prices have returned closer to levels seen before the conflicts that had previously driven prices up.

Despite the reductions, fuel prices remain higher than they were earlier in the year. However, analysts suggest that the July adjustment is a positive step towards reducing the financial strain on consumers. The future trajectory of fuel costs will likely hinge on the stability of geopolitical tensions and the continued recovery of global oil supplies.
