Dubai government employees were instructed to work from home on Friday as heavy rain and severe weather continued to affect the city and surrounding emirates. The decision comes after persistent rainfall on Thursday led to isolated flooding and traffic disruptions across several areas.
Authorities said the remote work directive applies to all government-affiliated entities, except essential services. The private sector was also encouraged to adopt similar work-from-home measures to ensure employee safety amid worsening weather conditions.
Officials warned residents to remain alert as thunderstorms, strong winds, and further rainfall are expected over the next two days. Parts of the northern emirates experienced rain, wind, and hail earlier in the week, prompting safety advisories across the country.
Residents were urged to avoid beaches, valleys, mountainous areas, and flood-prone locations. Motorists were also advised to drive cautiously, reduce speed when necessary, and remain alert to sudden weather changes. Forecasts indicate that the heaviest rainfall is expected through Friday, with conditions gradually improving by Saturday.
