This week, the United Arab Emirates is bracing for a significant spike in temperatures, with some areas in the Abu Dhabi region set to experience extreme heat. Forecasts indicate that certain parts of Abu Dhabi, such as Mezaira, Gasyoura, and Al Quaa, could see temperatures soar to as high as 48°C, particularly on Thursday. The city of Abu Dhabi itself is predicted to reach a peak of 43°C on the same day.
Meanwhile, Dubai is expected to experience slightly milder conditions, with temperatures likely to reach a maximum of 40°C on Thursday. This rise in temperatures comes on the heels of a relatively temperate spring, which was characterized by sporadic periods of unsettled weather. In recent weeks, however, several regions have consistently recorded temperatures above 40°C, indicating the imminent arrival of the summer season.
The official start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, including the UAE, is marked by the summer solstice on June 21. Meteorologists are forecasting that the hot weather will persist across the region in the weeks that follow, as the UAE transitions fully into summer.
