Etihad Rail Boosts Economic Activity and Business Development

Date:

Since its inauguration a month ago, the Etihad Rail passenger line connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah is already making significant impacts on tourism and business while enhancing regional connectivity in the UAE. The service has quickly gained popularity, with many trains operating at full capacity, demonstrating robust demand for this new travel option.

The journey between the two emirates is completed in less than two hours, providing a convenient, efficient alternative to road travel. As a result, local enterprises such as car rental companies near Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed City Station have noticed an uptick in business. Similarly, hotels in Fujairah are seeing increased patronage as more visitors take advantage of the rail service to explore the area.

To address the growing need for seamless travel, new bus routes have been introduced, enhancing last-mile connectivity for passengers reaching their final destinations. This development is part of a broader effort to integrate various modes of transportation within the UAE, making travel across the nation more accessible and efficient.

Etihad Rail is implementing a phased expansion of its passenger network to further boost mobility and economic growth. Scheduled openings of new stations in Dubai and Sharjah are set for September 30, followed by additional stations in Madinat Zayed and Liwa on November 30. These expansions aim to connect more regions, facilitating easier access and promoting economic activity across the country.

As the network grows, it is expected to enhance the UAE’s infrastructure, fostering increased tourism and supporting local businesses by providing reliable and speedy travel options. This development is a crucial step in bolstering the country’s transportation framework, paving the way for future growth and connectivity.
