South Korea, UAE Explore Enhanced Economic and Business Collaboration Opportunities

Date:

Amidst a backdrop of growing international cooperation, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are deepening their bilateral ties. On Friday, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority, at Cheong Wa Dae to discuss the future of their partnership.

The meeting underscored a commitment to enhancing collaboration across various sectors. President Lee emphasized the importance of a long-term partnership, a vision initially laid out during his state visit to the UAE in November of the previous year. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea in March, which has significantly bolstered their energy security.

Both leaders identified several key areas for expanded cooperation, including defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges. President Lee advocated for open communication channels between officials from both nations to ensure that these cooperative efforts translate into substantial projects rooted in mutual trust.

Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, affirmed the UAE’s perception of South Korea as a valued partner. He highlighted the evolution of their relationship, which has grown from energy and infrastructure projects to include investments in space, healthcare, and education.

This visit comes as expectations rise for further high-level dialogues, with the possibility of a summit in South Korea next month, indicating a robust agenda for enhanced bilateral engagement between South Korea and the UAE.
