July Sees 28.8% Jump in Arab Stock Volume, Transaction Value Dips.

Date:

In July, Arab stock markets saw a notable rise in trading activity, marked by a significant increase in the volume of shares traded, which jumped 28.82% from June. The total trading volume for the month hit 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares in the previous month. This surge was primarily fueled by the Iraq Stock Exchange, followed closely by the Egyptian market.

Despite the uptick in trading volumes, the overall value of transactions saw a downturn, dropping 16.82% to $90.24 billion from June’s $108.48 billion. This decline was observed across several key markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, indicating a complex trading environment where increased activity did not translate into higher transaction values.

The performance of regional stock markets varied, with Egypt’s EGX30 index standing out as a top performer by gaining 5.85% during the month. Other regional exchanges also experienced gains, reflecting a mixed landscape for Arab equity markets in terms of performance.

The overall market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained largely unchanged, with a slight increase of 0.06%, totaling approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization suggests a balance between the increased trading activity and the decrease in transaction values.

These figures underscore the dynamic nature of trading across the Arab region, highlighting a period of heightened activity yet revealing challenges in maintaining transaction values and consistent performance across major markets.
