The UAE is set to revolutionize its education system with the implementation of a new artificial intelligence curriculum across all schools, both public and private. This initiative, recently approved by the UAE Cabinet, is part of a broader strategy to integrate AI into various sectors, including education and government services. The curriculum will cover essential AI concepts such as data management, algorithms, practical applications, and ethical considerations. Additionally, the program aims to equip 22,000 teachers and educators with the skills necessary to incorporate AI into teaching methods, assessment strategies, lesson planning, and curriculum development.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for educators to ensure that students are well-prepared to navigate a rapidly evolving future. In line with this educational reform, the Cabinet has also greenlit an AI advisory system to aid ministers in policy assessment and strategy formulation. This system will utilize 32 AI assistants to scrutinize proposals, evaluate potential impacts, benchmark against international practices, and offer recommendations aligned with the UAE’s national priorities.
On the technology front, the Cabinet has laid the groundwork for regulating autonomous vehicles in the UAE. This new framework will oversee the procedures for testing, inspecting, registering, and licensing self-driving vehicles, promoting cleaner transportation options and addressing traffic congestion. The move is part of the UAE’s broader commitment to technological advancement and innovation in its infrastructure.
Significant strides have also been made in the UAE’s digital transformation efforts, with the government reporting the completion of hundreds of millions of digital transactions via government services and the execution of numerous digital projects over the past year. These endeavors reflect the UAE’s dedication to enhancing efficiency and accessibility in government operations through digital means.
Additionally, in its pursuit of environmental sustainability, the Cabinet has ratified a National Ecotourism Policy. It also reviewed the progress of the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022–2030, which focuses on ecosystem protection, land rehabilitation, and the preservation of native plant species. These initiatives underscore the UAE’s commitment to balancing technological progress with ecological stewardship.
