Abu Dhabi has launched Tajmee’e, a new waste collection company created by the Tadweer Group to modernize refuse management and support the UAE’s sustainability goals. The initiative uses artificial intelligence, data monitoring, and predictive analytics to optimize collection routes, reduce fuel consumption, and lower emissions.
A smart fleet of vehicles equipped with AI cameras, sensors, and onboard computers will adjust routes in real time, avoiding empty bins and prioritizing those that are full. Bins across the city will also be fitted with sensors to track capacity, helping the system operate more efficiently.
Officials say this is a key step in Abu Dhabi’s broader plan to divert 80% of waste from landfills by 2030. The project is designed not only to improve collection but also to support recycling, composting, and waste-to-energy projects. By gathering data on waste volumes and types, the system will help shape future infrastructure and policies for a circular economy, where waste becomes a valuable resource.
