UAE Declares Eid Al Adha 2025 Holidays: A Four-Day Pause to Reflect, Reconnect, and Rejoice

Date:

The UAE has officially announced a four-day public holiday for Eid Al Adha 2025, offering government employees a well-earned break from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8, with work resuming on Monday, June 9.
This announcement, issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, follows the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the beginning of Dhu Al Hijja, the final month of the Islamic calendar. Eid Al Adha—the Festival of Sacrifice—will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, a sacred day symbolizing devotion, humility, and unity among Muslims around the world.
As families prepare for this spiritually significant time, the announcement also aligns with the Hajj pilgrimage schedule. Arafat Day, the most important day of Hajj, will fall on Thursday, June 5, setting the stage for a serene and spiritually rich holiday period.
Eid Al Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith as he prepared to sacrifice his son Ismail, until God intervened and provided a ram in his place. The celebration is marked by prayers, family gatherings, and the act of Qurbani—sacrificing an animal and sharing its meat with loved ones and those in need.
While public sector employees can begin planning their long weekend, private sector holiday dates are expected to be announced shortly, typically mirroring the public schedule to ensure nationwide celebration and balance.
This four-day respite is more than just a holiday—it’s a time to reconnect with values, to honor faith, and to spread joy across communities. As the UAE continues to harmonize tradition with modern life, Eid Al Adha offers a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks.
