UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Discusses Iran Crisis With Syria’s Ahmad Al Shara

Date:

Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone call with Ahmad Al Shara to discuss the escalating tensions in the Gulf following recent Iranian attacks.
During the conversation, the two leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts to reduce military escalation and restore stability in the region. Al Shara expressed Syria’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and condemned the ongoing missile and drone attacks launched by Iran.
Iran has carried out several strikes since the conflict began on February 28, targeting locations across the Gulf. Iranian authorities said the attacks were aimed at American military bases in response to joint actions by the United States and Israel. However, Gulf nations say the strikes have also hit civilian and energy infrastructure.
The attacks have resulted in casualties in the UAE and heightened security concerns across the region. Al Shara also condemned a drone strike targeting the UAE Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region, describing it as a dangerous escalation.
Sheikh Mohamed later held discussions with Abdullah II about the conflict’s impact on regional security. Both leaders condemned the attack on the UAE diplomatic mission in northern Iraq and emphasized the need to prevent further escalation.
The UAE President also spoke with Viktor Orbán, with the leaders calling for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomatic solutions while also reviewing bilateral relations between the UAE and Hungary.
