UAE Expands Gaza Aid Deliveries Through Cyprus Sea Corridor, Says Lana Nusseibeh

Date:

The United Arab Emirates will expand humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza through a key maritime corridor from Cyprus, Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh announced on Friday. She said the partnership with Cyprus is vital for sustaining relief operations for Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict.
During a visit to the port of Limassol, Ms. Nusseibeh highlighted that maintaining multiple access points to Gaza — by land, air, and sea — remains critical for ensuring the continuous flow of aid. She described the maritime route as an essential part of the UAE’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians in the war-torn enclave.
Under the Amalthea Initiative launched last year, around 22,000 tonnes of pre-screened aid have already been dispatched from Cyprus. Both countries reaffirmed their joint commitment to secure safe and sustained humanitarian deliveries across Gaza in line with international humanitarian law. The UAE and Cyprus also pledged to continue working closely with international partners to increase the scale and efficiency of relief efforts.
Ms. Nusseibeh, who has played a prominent role in UAE foreign policy and humanitarian diplomacy, reiterated that ensuring unrestricted access for aid operations remains a top priority. The expanded maritime cooperation follows a recent US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza, offering a renewed opportunity to restore stability and strengthen humanitarian support for the region’s displaced and vulnerable populations.
