The UAE Urban Search and Rescue team has once again been awarded the esteemed “heavy” classification, the top international accolade given by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), affiliated with the United Nations. This marks the third occasion that the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority’s team has secured this elite status, further solidifying the UAE’s standing in the realm of emergency preparedness and disaster response.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations to the team, commending their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to act. He particularly emphasized their capability to respond swiftly to both natural disasters and humanitarian crises, whether occurring domestically or on the international stage. This achievement, he noted, is a testament to the UAE’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles and serves to enhance its global reputation in disaster management.
The ceremony acknowledging this accomplishment took place at Qasr Al Bahr Palace, attended by notable figures including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, alongside senior officials and other distinguished guests. The event underscored the significant role that the UAE Urban Search and Rescue team plays in maintaining the nation’s preparedness for emergencies of all kinds.
The repeated recognition by INSARAG is indicative of the team’s sustained excellence and operational capabilities. It highlights the rigorous training and strategic planning that underpin the UAE’s approach to disaster response, ensuring that the nation remains a leader in this critical area. The UAE’s focus on such preparedness not only safeguards its own citizens but also positions it as a vital partner in international humanitarian efforts.
