Zayed Prize Boosts UAE Economy with 10,233 Global Business Submissions

Date:

A record-breaking 10,233 entries from 177 nations have been submitted for the 2027 cycle of the Zayed Sustainability Prize in the UAE, reflecting a 32% surge in participation compared to last year. This esteemed award seeks to honor groundbreaking initiatives that tackle pressing global issues across the sectors of climate action, health, food, energy, water, and education through global high schools.

Each winner in the categories of climate, health, food, energy, and water will be awarded $1 million, while those who reach the finalist stage will receive $150,000. Additionally, six global high schools will emerge victorious with $150,000 each, and their finalists will secure $25,000.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the Director General, noted that the unprecedented number of submissions underscores a rising global interest in innovative, practical solutions that have the potential to enhance quality of life. Notably, a significant portion of the applications—more than two-thirds—originated from developing and emerging nations, with climate action drawing the highest number of proposals.

The announcement of the finalists is scheduled for September, paving the way for the winners to be celebrated at a ceremony set for January 12, 2027. This event will serve as a platform to recognize those who have made significant strides in addressing some of the world’s most critical challenges through sustainable solutions.
