Ajman Pioneers AI in Streamlining Trade License Renewal Process for Businesses

Date:

In a significant technological advancement for the United Arab Emirates, Ajman has become the first governmental body in the nation to utilize agentic artificial intelligence for renewing trade licenses. This development is a key step in the country’s ongoing efforts towards digital transformation. Spearheaded by the Department of Digital Ajman, the newly implemented system automates the entire process of license renewal, effectively streamlining it by identifying the needs of customers, coordinating necessary approvals, and managing various procedural steps across several government departments with minimal human intervention.

The initial phase of this pioneering initiative is concentrated on renewing trade licenses through Ajman’s Department of Economic Development. Customers are given the convenience of receiving automatic notifications as their license expiration dates approach, with the ability to complete the renewal process through the AjmanOne government application. For cases where commercial lease renewal is also needed, the system is designed to seamlessly integrate with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, thus enabling the completion of the license renewal process entirely automatically.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the UAE to integrate artificial intelligence more comprehensively into public services. The federal government of the UAE has set an ambitious goal of having half of all government services delivered by AI agents within the next two years. This move is seen as a step towards enhancing operational efficiency and providing faster service delivery to the public.

Ajman’s adoption of AI for trade license renewal is a testament to the country’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies in public administration. In addition to improving service delivery, the initiative is also aligned with efforts to train thousands of public sector employees in advanced AI technologies, thereby equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape. The success of this project in Ajman could potentially serve as a model for other government entities in the UAE and beyond, as they look to modernize and improve their service delivery frameworks.
