Spider-Man Brand New Day Trailer Tops 1 Billion Views — A Milestone That Has Never Happened Before

Date:

Something historic happened in the world of film on March 17 when Sony released the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Within four days, it crossed one billion views — making it the first movie trailer in history to achieve this feat. The record was confirmed by data measurement firm WaveMetrix, which tracked 1.1 billion views by Tuesday.

The 24-hour viewership numbers were a story in themselves, with 718.6 million views recorded on the first day. That single-day figure beat the Deadpool & Wolverine Super Bowl teaser record of 365 million, the Grand Theft Auto VI game announcement of 475 million, and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s franchise record of 355.5 million. Brand New Day stood alone at the top in less than a day.

For the trailer to then go on and surpass one billion total views in four days was something no industry analyst had anticipated. It represents a new benchmark for what film marketing can accomplish in the digital era. Brand New Day’s promotional campaign has already become a case study in audience engagement.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, releases on July 31 and features Tom Holland’s Peter Parker dealing with the aftermath of No Way Home’s memory-erasing spell. The cast includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. In India, the film will be released in six languages across premium formats.

The trailer’s heavy emotional themes — isolation, loss, and rebirth — immediately struck a chord with the global fanbase. Humorous alternate titles and heartfelt fan tributes flooded social media. As the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and a Phase Six cornerstone, Brand New Day appears set to make the same impact at the box office that its trailer has already made online.
